We’ve all seen the Frog Pod. The newer product, the Bug Pod, is red and in a rounded shape. It helps store your kid’s bath toys and has a shelf to hold products like shampoo and gel. You can mount it with adhesives, screws or a bracket (and each method has a different weight limit). This is a fun way to organize your kid’s colorful bath toys in one scoop and one place. This is a great baby shower gift too! FYI: doesn’t come with toys.
Boon Inc. is one of the many charitable vendors who has donated to the San Diego USO charity auction for the May 30th Stars and Stripes Ball. This Bug Pod will be part of a larger basket of baby goodies submitted for the auction by Bliss Nine.

There is conflicting information as to whether one can/should drink tonic water while pregnant. Some people believe tonic water helps relieve leg cramps. And as most pregnant women experience severe leg cramps (severe – like kicking the husband in bed while he is comfortably in REM sleep mode so he knows a tiny bit of the pain you are going through), they do what they can to relieve the pain. Because tonic water contains the ingredient quinine, some medical studies have shown that women who have taken quinine during pregnancy had a higher chance of giving birth to babies with birth defects and problems.
If you have leg cramps, focus on stretching, drinking plenty of water, eating potassium rich foods and did we mention stretching?! Do calf stretches throughout the day and before going to bed. And a helpful tip from a mom who had horrible leg cramps – she tried swimming (as recommended by her doctor), which really helped relieve the pain. So stay active, well rested and hydrated.

We have this exersaucer/children’s activity center, so it is disappointing that such a great product has to be recalled. When the exersaucer is set at Stage Three (activity level), the end cap can fall off. It has caused one child to break a collarbone! The recall is for model number 6231711 for those exersaucers made between October 2006 and December 2008. Evenflo has stated that you can continue to use it in stages 1 and 2. For an expensive and useful product, this is a great disappointment, but we are glad Evenflo decided to do a voluntary recall.

On February 12th, a special federal court ruled that the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine (and other mercury based vaccines) was not connected to the autism that developed in three children. The families attorneys are considering appealing. The special court is working on another group of cases, which are alleging that thimerosal causes autism. A decision will likely be brought forth in the fall this year.
