Set your calendars mamas-to-be! On August 17th, the La Jolla maternity store, Modish Maternity, will be co-hosting a mixer at their store on August 17, 2010. Bliss Nine’s preferred vendor – personal trainer for mommies pre/post partum – Connie Marshall will be there to demonstrate prenatal exercises. There will be food and shopping! We are so happy to be celebrating the wonderful store Babies in Bloom’s birthday baby fair on Saturday, March 20th. The birth and baby fair will be held between 10-1 p.m., ending in a concert by kid-folk music band Hullabaloo. There will be raffles for prizes and a free gift (as available) for each family. And 15% of the sales from that day will go to the Tri-City Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Have you always wanted to try a prenatal massage but wasn’t sure if you would be comfortable or whether it would be safe? Then you must sign up for a free pre- and perinatal massage therapy session, being held the afternoon of Saturday, September 26th. You will be massaged by a student learning the specialty of prenatal massage under the watchful eye of long-time certified expert, massage-therapist, teacher in the field – Carole Osborne-Sheets, of Body Therapy Associates.
Bliss Nine is ecstatic to have Body Therapy Associates be our preferred vendor in prenatal massage therapy. Carole is extremely knowledgeable (she is currently updating a textbook on massage therapy), and has been training and certifying therapists in Southern California for many years in prenatal massage therapy. We recently visited her new location in Kensington, and it is the cutest place and so relaxing for her clients. She showed us the cushions used to make pregnant women comfortable and some new products she was working on in improving the comfort and well-being of her clients. We love the unscented massage oil, which not only helps women who dislike certain scents, but the oil doesn’t leave you oily! We can’t wait until we can try it out ourselves in a full massage one of these days. And Carole herself is just a calming presence. She is eager to share her knowledge and make you feel comfortable in her space.
The free massage session is open to women who are beyond twelve weeks pregnant and whose pregnancies are low risk and without complications. In our second class in a series of three classes, Bliss Nine is pleased to be partnering with Babies-in-Bloom boutique owner and certified child birth educator and lactation consultant Rochelle Mclean to talk about the basics of breastfeeding and answering questions you may have in preparing for it. Rochelle was my birthing class instructor and she was so informative and helpful! Come meet us both! And if you’re in the North County area, check out Rochelle’s super cute boutique in Vista/Oceanside.
This class will be held at the eco-chic maternity clothing store Dress for the Nines at 1220 Cleveland Avenue, San Diego, at noon, this coming Saturday, August 1, 2009.

Bliss Nine is excited to speak at the upcoming New Mom Expo this Sunday at 11:30 a.m. about Creating an Eco-Friendly Nursery. We will discuss a range of topics from flooring options to toys. I will have great products to show you and samples of Dapple Baby products to hand out to the first 30 people. Even if you can’t make it at that time, please check out the expo at the Anaheim Convention Center. New Mom Expo is going on both Saturday and Sunday between 10 – 5 p.m. 5% of all ticket sales go to the Casa Teresa Charity. In the upcoming weeks, I will blog about the products you saw at my talk in better detail.

The San Diego USO Charity Ball will be held on May 30, 2009. There are hundreds of items being auctioned off in a silent auction and we are so excited to be amongst the high caliber of items being auctioned for such a great cause. Shishu Home and Baby: Shishu has donated two blankets, which are both soft, luxurious, hand-woven blankets and throws made from bamboo. They are free of unnatural and chemically treated fibers. The large home throw is sized as a 50” by 60” blanket. The celadon baby blanket is 30” x 40” in size.
Sundin Photography: Local photographer specializes in candid portrait photography. This gift certificate offers a lifestyle photography portrait session for maternity, newborn, toddler, family or engagement photographs which includes a 1-2 hour photo session of 1-5 people and at least 25 edited images available for viewing and purchase in a private online gallery. Bliss Nine had the pleasure of meeting photographer Jessica Davis at her office in Solana Beach. She is not only passionate and dedicated about what she does, she is also super knowledgeable and one of those people you know are born and raised to be a photographer. Having graduated from the Brooks Institute and owning her business for the past few years, you couldn’t ask for more in a photographer! On a personal level, Jessica will make you feel comfortable and taken care of. From providing custom frames to holiday cards, she is a one stop shop for anything photography related. Check out her website and see the beautiful pictures of families, babies and pregnant women. Plus, now she is a part of a photography studio, which is a great venue for maternity photographs and provides a comfortable and great place for women to change in privacy.
